Sherwood Lumber Corporation – a national building materials distributor with its home office in Melville, NY – has an opportunity for the right individual to become a part of our team. Candidates must be able to work directly with business leaders to identify improvement needs and corresponding technology requirements to support our company’s vision, mission and guiding principles.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversees the IT System Manager and contract consultants with tasks which include and are not limited to software Services, Network Security, Telecommunications, Data Back-Up, Disaster Avoidance and Recovery, and Facilities Security
  • Manages and Facilitates continuous improvement in our ERP software including familiarity with vetting different ERP solutions and implementation
  • Experience with eCommerce development, implementation, and trouble shoot
  • Familiar with integrating different technologies due to merger and acquisition transactions
  • Takes a leadership role in helping departments identify, design and implement modifications to the ERP system and other information platforms such CRM and document retention
  • Insure the system meets the needs of our Customers and Vendors with processes such as EDI and other electronic data exchange programs
  • Continually improve the performance of information gathering and delivery systems to ensure that information is provided to users in an efficient and timely manner

  • Assist the Marketing Department with the implementation and enhancement of the Company’s Public web presence as
  • Provide the integration and management of the Public web interaction of our Customers with the appropriate information from our internal systems. Provide this information in a secure manner that protects the confidentiality and integrity of the information and does not compromise the security of our
  • Develop and maintain special function websites as required by different Departments
  • Overseas all IT-related payroll, purchasing and budget usage; works with Accounting to develop budgets
  • Development and management of corporate help desk activities
  • Holds responsibility for capacity planning and scheduling vendor negotiations related to IT
  • Effectively communicates relevant IT-related information to superiors
  • Assists in the development and enforcement of standard company policies and procedures
  • E-Commerce familiarity a must
  • 5+ years or experience in a management role overseeing all aspects of IT
  • Two-year degree in a computer related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in network administration
  • Experience implementing and maintaining ERP systems
  • Strong Verbal and written skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Building Materials Experience is a plus
  • Detailed Project Management Portfolio
